Convert PDF to Excel
Turn the tables in a PDF into a spreadsheet you can sort, filter and add up. PDFSpark reads where each piece of text sits on the page, rebuilds the rows and columns, and saves an .xlsx file for Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers. It all happens in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.
Your file is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. Most online tools send your document to their servers and delete it later — this one never receives it at all.

PDF to Excel: frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to Excel?
Open the PDF in PDFSpark's PDF to Excel tool, choose how to split it into sheets, and click Convert to Excel. The tool finds the tables on each page in your browser, shows a preview, and gives you an .xlsx file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and Numbers.
Will my table come out exactly as it looks in the PDF?
The rows, columns and values usually come through well for tables with clear columns, such as invoices, statements and reports. A PDF doesn't store tables, only text at positions, so the layout is rebuilt: merged cells, borders, colours and fonts are not copied, and cells that wrap onto several lines may land in separate rows. Check the preview before you rely on the result.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Not directly. A scan is a picture of a page, so there is no text to put in cells. Run the PDF through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then convert that file to Excel. OCR can misread characters, so check the numbers afterwards.
Are numbers converted to real numbers?
Yes, by default. Values like 1,234.50, $9.99, (120) and 12.5% become numbers with a matching format, so you can add them up straight away. Codes with leading zeros, such as 00721, stay as text. You can switch this off to keep every cell exactly as written. Numbers written with a decimal comma, like 1.234,50, are kept as text.
What happens to text that isn't in a table?
With one sheet per page, headings and paragraphs go in their own rows above and below the tables, so nothing is lost. Choose one sheet per table to keep only the tables.
Is it safe to convert confidential PDFs?
Yes. PDFSpark converts the PDF in your browser, so the file and its contents never reach our servers. Many online converters upload your file for processing; here the spreadsheet is built on your device.
