Convert PDF to Word
Need to change a PDF you don't have the original for? PDFSpark rebuilds it as a Word document: paragraphs you can retype, headings Word recognises, the same fonts, bold, italic and colours, simple tables as real Word tables, and the pictures in place. The conversion runs in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded.
Your file is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. Most online tools send your document to their servers and delete it later — this one never receives it at all.

PDF to Word: frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to Word for free?
Open PDFSpark's PDF to Word tool, drop in your PDF and click Convert to Word. Each page is read in your browser and rebuilt as a Word document, which you download as a .docx file. The free plan includes 3 operations a day, with no account.
Will the Word document look exactly like my PDF?
Close, but not identical. Text, paragraphs, headings, fonts, bold, italic, colours, simple tables and pictures come across. Lines, boxes, shapes, page backgrounds and charts drawn as vector graphics aren't carried over, and complex layouts such as multi-column pages are turned into a single flow of text that is easier to edit. Check the result before you share it.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Word?
A scanned PDF is made of pictures of pages, so on its own it converts to a Word file of pictures, not editable text. Run it through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then convert that PDF to Word to get text you can edit.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so the PDF and the Word file stay on your device. That makes it suitable for contracts, payslips and other confidential documents that you shouldn't hand to an online converter.
Which programs can open the converted file?
The download is a standard .docx file. It opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages, LibreOffice Writer and most other word processors.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
If the PDF needs a password to open, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then convert it. PDFs that only restrict printing or copying usually convert without that step.
